Plein Air Classes

Connect with nature in a different way! Beginners and experienced painters alike are welcome to join me in an informal, friendly group class as I teach the basics of plein air painting.

Held in various inspiring locations in the Canterbury/Loudon area, come learn to catch and paint the light and long shadows of Central NH’s gardens, farms, ponds, rivers, meadows, and more.

We will create preliminary sketches for value composition (Notans) while becoming familiar with tools used to work comfortably outdoors. There will be demonstrations, discussions, and helpful critiques of individual artwork throughout the class. Students will learn skills to simplify and organize their compositions while emphasizing self-expression and exploring individual styles.

$25 per person, in the field group lesson, medium of your choice (watercolor, acrylic, oils).

Private individual or group lessons are also available, please inquire. Preregistration for each class is necessary, specific locations will be emailed to participants. Sign up for one or the entire series. **
