Sculpting the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit
Sculpting the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit
Inspired by the familiar backyard rabbit of fields and gardens, students will sculpt a small Eastern Cottontail using simple hand-building techniques.
We’ll focus on gesture and personality, but also learn about its unique anatomy and habits. Suitable for beginners.
What Happens to Your Sculpture
Students will create a small clay sculpture using hand-building techniques. No prior clay experience is necessary.
At the end of class you have two options:
Kiln Fired (Recommended)
Your sculpture can be professionally dried and kiln-fired in my studio. After firing, I apply natural oxide washes to bring out the textures and details of the clay.
Pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 2–3 weeks.
Air-Dry Option
If you prefer to take your sculpture home the same day, you may allow it to air dry and paint it yourself with acrylic paints.
