Sculpting the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit (evening)

Sculpting the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit (evening)

$55.00

Need a break from the constant swirl of news and screens? Come spend an evening doing something slower and more grounding.

In this relaxed clay workshop at Carol Lake Studios, we’ll sculpt a small Eastern Cottontail rabbit using simple hand-building techniques. As we work, we’ll talk a little about the wild rabbits that live right outside our doors—and how learning to really see them can deepen our connection to the natural world.

You’ll also learn the difference between the common Eastern Cottontail and the much rarer New England Cottontail, and how habitat restoration efforts are helping this native species recover.

Classes take place in my converted old barn studio, warmed by a cozy pellet stove. Evening classes are BYOB, so bring a favorite drink, gather a friend, and enjoy a creative night out with clay.

Dress warmly (it’s still a New England barn), don’t mind the occasional enthusiastic Jack Russell studio assistant, and come ready to relax, laugh, and make something with your hands.

What Happens to Your Sculpture

Students will create a small clay sculpture using hand-building techniques. No prior clay experience is necessary.

At the end of class you have two options:

Kiln Fired (Recommended)
Your sculpture can be professionally dried and kiln-fired in my studio. After firing, I apply natural oxide washes to bring out the textures and details of the clay.

Pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 2–3 weeks.

Air-Dry Option
If you prefer to take your sculpture home the same day, you may allow it to air dry and paint it yourself with acrylic paints.
